Ruby Slipper

Aaron and I took a trip to Vegas the weekend after Valentine's Day. Every vacation I always say I'm going to take more pictures...and every time I fail. This vacation was no exception. But next time I will........  ;)

Aaron had business conferences in Vegas during the week so I drove there (by myself. ugh) on Friday. Right when I got there, Aaron told me he had a surprise and we walked up to the spa where he had an AMAZING couple's massage. But don't let me get ahead of myself. 1st Aaron and I went to separate areas where we got undressed and into robes. He apparently just watched sports on his side, but ME, I started out in one of the Roman Baths. After that I got lost and moved onto the sauna, which had "herbal" steam and was very relaxing. Sat in there and sweated my bum off, then went in to the Arctic Ice room. I opened the door and some machine turned on that started blowing snowflakes. I stood in there as long as I could and when it got too cold I headed to the waiting area and snacked on some pretzels. A woman came and got me and took me to a room with a heated stone seating area. After a few minutes I finally got to see my lover and we went into the massage area. They made us custom scented bath salts and then left the room so we could get undressed. I don't even remember all that happened after that. There was some hardcore scrubbing with a salt scrub, there was some rinsing off in the shower, there was some massaging, there was a coconut oil hair treatment, there was some hot stone placing on our bodies, there was some stretching (which doesn't  feel all too good after a day in the gym and sore muscles), and I think that was it. We then parted ways again, I sat in the sauna a bit and then we met up and went to the room.

Arctic Ice room, obviously not me

Am I boring you yet? We napped a bit and then showered and got ready for dinner at Nobu. One of my FAVORITE places EVER to eat!

We got a few drinks cocktails, I started out with the Bellini Martini and Aaron got a sake sampling so they brought him a different sake with each new dish. For dinner Aaron ordered Omakase, so the chef got to decide what we ate. Normally I'm obsessed with everything they bring, but this time...not so much.  The 1st dish was squid or something and I ate it but it totally grossed me out. Then they brought basically a fried crawfish with the eyeballs and everything. Didn't touch that. Then came the duck. Not a fan. The next couple hot dishes were better. A white fish which was yummy, some steak (very good) and then a plate of sushi. I ate a few pieces and then almost gagged when Aaron went to the bathroom. Too much fish. But the drinks and dessert were amazing so I'll give them another chance to redeem themselves next time. We then met up with a guy Aaron had met at one of the meetings and gambled a bit. Then Aaron and I headed over to the Cosmopolitan. Words can't even describe that place. So awesome!

Chandelier Bar!

Inside the Marquee Club

We danced a bit then went home

The next day we slept in and then went to a Penn and Teller show. Those guys are hilarious!

Excuse the scary eyes. Aaron insisted we only take pictures there with his iPhone.

He was making some rather creepy noises in my ear "mmmmmmmm"

We had dinner at the Cosmopolitan's restaurant China Poblano. We shared a couple pork tacos and a side of homemade guacamole served with homemade tortillas. I've never had guacamole inside a tortilla before, but I'm ADDICTED! So good! And we got to watch them make the tortillas while we ate! Very neat.

We had a drink inside the chandelier bar and then danced a bit in the Marquee Club again

Then headed down to the casino

Aaron gambled a bit and then I left him at the Roulette table so I could go to the bathroom...and that's when the night got really interesting. Some Brazilian tried to steal me! In his Brazilian accent: "3 days...and you will fall in love with me. Give me 3 days" "If your husband does not come for you, let me take you to Brazil" blah blah blah Creep! So I texted Aaron to come save me! We went to a quiet bar down on the main level where I had a drink made just for me and I even got to name it! Yay for me! Hence the blog title "Ruby Slipper". The bartender made it with some Finlandia grapefruit vodka, fresh grapefruit juice, simple sugar...and that might be it but I don't know. So if you ever go to the Cosmopolitan, order a Ruby Slipper! It's the BEST! So somehow 10 AM, yes 10 AM! came around and we decided we should probably go to bed. We got a cab home and went straight to bed.

We lounged around the next day and then went to dinner at Neros. I was feeling a little homesick and missing my baby ;(

Poor me, right? haha

Aaron felt he needed to document this

So we stayed in that night and watched tv

Since I'm obsessed with chef Bobby Flay, we had lunch at his restaurant the next day. Then time to go home!

But not before Aaron got a boxing picture taken ;)
